Stop The Spinning Madness

Hey guys!

Since the New Year began, it has become apparent in every one of my Career Consults how easily an artist can get swayed by a zillion interruptions and inevitably go into spin mode! There is always so much to do. There are so many classes to take and a ridiculous amount of places to go to air out your dirty laundry. Trust me, I know how frustrating it can all be. You want to act. I get it. You want to express yourself. I know, seriously, I know. But the most crucial thing you must ask yourself every time an opportunity comes up that could potentially veer you off to the left is, "Is this going to get me where I need to go to get to the next level in my career?"

Let me tell you this, a package that consists of great photos, a great demo and a killer resume needs to come first. If you hate where you're at in your career, then change it. It is virtually impossible to be seen for a television show without a legit agent. Well, then, how are you going to get one if you're spinning? I agree that sometimes you need to produce your own projects to be seen. But don't get caught up in the producing end of things and lose sight of what you came here to do. Don't forget, you're an actor first and everything else you do is "additional." Get your package together first. Get your team in place and then you can spend as much time as you want on all the "additional" things your career has to offer.

I constantly get asked, "What about the festival circuit? What about a Voice-Over reel? What about modeling photos?" The list goes on. Stay focused on the task at hand guys.  Do you have a great "Tell me about yourself?" or a monologue on hand at any given notice? Are you familiar with every television show in production? Do you know how to run an Acting Business? I'm so surprised that you guys aren't taking advantage of the acting business membership site http://tltaccess.com that I put together for you to get information about how to run your business.

Be ready for that big opportunity when it comes your way.  Go after that dream and stop spinning!

Always here for YOU!
