NEWSLETTER - May 2010 - "Don't Be A Target!"

This morning I walked into my local herbal vitamin store looking for ginger root for my friend. Every time I step foot in that store the owner tells me something about me that's negative. Several years ago she said, "Oh, Amy! You fat! You look nothing like your picture on my wall!" Well, she didn't say it this time 'cause I'm now thin, but that comment lasted with me for weeks. Today she made a comment about my voice and how tired I looked. She then proceeded to sell me remedies to take care of it. She never sold me the ginger root. She said, "Ginger root?! That won't work for your friend. Here, try this!" When I told my friend why I didn't have the ginger root he said, "Amy, don't you see, she just wants you to buy from her store." Well, that comment hit me like a ton of bricks.

I had to share this story with you because it occurred to me, I am not the only sensitive type out there who gets buttons pushed and is sold an unnecessary bill of goods. How many people do you have around you that push your buttons only to get what they need? Who truly has your best interest at heart? What bill of goods (i.e. other people's crap) are you buying? It's amazing to think that with all my training I am still prey to outside influence.

Stay strong my friends. Figure out what is best for you and try not to be the target!
Needless to say, I will not be going in there again. Fool me twice... my bad.
