One of my biggest notes in class is about letting go. I find that if an actor has too much scene study training, the first take is usually a rehearsal. You need to get out of the mindset that you’re going to get more than one shot. If you’re doing the right homework, then by the time you get to the audition, in the waiting room, you should be just setting up your “Opening Emotion,” “Who Am I Relating To,” and creating the “Environment.” If you’re still “running your scene” in the outer office, then you didn’t do enough homework. Find a way to clear your head and get to zero before you set up the 3 Guidelines and pull out your pom poms and GO! Trust that you’re enough exactly as you are and stop thinking about what anyone expects. Have the confidence in knowing that you are “invited” as a guest and it is your time to shine. Stop the worry madness and get on your horse and ride.
